Not my preferred type of "admittance" wristband frown emoticon It's time for me to a bit a bit vulnerable and explain why I've had to cancel a recent string of shows. I shared that I could not perform at the Millennium Music Conference 2 weeks ago because I was sick. I wish I could say it was a cold or the flu, but for several weeks I've been managing a severe flare up of Ulcerative Colitis. In case you're eating, I'll spare you the comprehensive list of systems I've had, but in summary, my large intestine is very swollen and covered with ulcers. Which means I end up spending A LOT of quality time in the bathroom. This makes things like working, driving when you're unsure the next highway rest stop, or even playing a 45 minute set, not only uncomfortable, but also super anxiety provoking. My condition has worsened over the past week to the point where my body was no longer able to absorb any of the nutrients or water I was putting into it. This led to pretty extreme weight loss and weakness, which is partially why I ended up in the hospital. I made it through the ER into a nice quiet room where I can start to recouperate. So many of you have been with me for so many big steps and victories, it only seemed right to share this particular setback with you. I welcome all positive thoughts and prayers and I will do my best to get better so I can get back to writing songs, singing, and sharing a part of myself that I love.
